This is not to say that illegal drugs are not harmful, of course they are! But alcohol can be a serious threat to anyone too. It is a mood enhancer and many people use alcohol to express enjoyment or drink it to cover up a bad experience that is going on in their lives. Due to the fact that its socially accepted, it can be hard to identify problems in the individuals that drink.
So what can you do if you want to quit drinking alcohol? Lets take a look at a couple of things you can do to stop drinking alcohol. One way you can abolish drinking is to simply get rid of the booze thats around you. What I mean by this is to throw out all the alcohol that you have in the refrigerator, or in the cabinate. Where ever you stock bottles of wine, or bottles of beer and liquor, you need to dump it and clean out that area.
Perhaps one of the next things you could do is communicate to your friends and family that you are quitting alcohol and let them understand your intention and your seriousness about giving up the substance. By doing this, you should receive encouraging support from friends and family and this will help you to carry out the task of quitting alcohol for the better. Of course, with friends and family understanding that you have decided to quit, they will now know that you dont drink and their is less of a likelyhood for them to offer you an alcoholic beverage!
The last thing I will say about giving up alcohol… and this is crucial… is to leave your old pals on the high stool and find new friends that don’t part take in drinking alcohol. From experience, this is an important step for you! It will not be enough to admit to your close relationships that you are quitting alcohol or that you have thrown out all the alochol you own in the house. The key element to finishing things up is to finish the relationships that continue to be dependent on alcohol. If you succeed in doing this, it will become a lot easier for you to quit drinking alcohol.
Continuing on the relationships that continue to drink, will simply make you frustrated. You won’t be able to win over the difficulty that you will experience as you finish your relasionship with alcohol and alcohol will continue to control your life… for worse! All you got to say, in a polite gentle yet firm way, is to them these buddies of yours that your no longer motivated to continue the drinking patterns they experience. Tell them the reasons why… let them know you are serious. Make sure you also let them know you will turn down every invite to parties where you know there will be alcoholism involved. Its a tough, sensitive situation to be in… for sure…. but its a vital step towords your freedom from alcohol!
